Why go?
Relax and enjoy the sunshine in classy Costa Adeje, with its excellent hotels, warm volcanic sands and sparkling sea. Much quieter than lively Playa de las Americas just 3km away, holidays in Costa Adeje are all about strolls along the promenade and watching the sun go down in seafront restaurants. Perched on Tenerife's south coast with Mount Teide looming in the background, Costa Adeje is ideal if you want a quiet retreat that's still close to the action. When you're not on the beach or by the pool, there's a world-class golf course, a couple of fun-filled water parks, plenty of shops for bargain hunting and laidback local restaurants, as well as the bars and nightclubs of Playa de las Americas if you fancy a big night out.
Things to do
For keen golfers, Costa Adeje's professional 18-hole course has played host to the Canaries Spanish Open, and there's a golf school if you want to improve your game. Holidays in Costa Adeje are great for water-lovers, with plenty of bracing water sports and the nearby Aqualand water park, a real family favourite. If you want to spend some pennies, you'll find plenty of shopping centres, a market in the Torviscas district every Thursday and Saturday and scores of shops in Santa Cruz, the island's capital. In the evenings, head to the promenade to choose from the many beachfront restaurants. You'll find plenty of British favourites to tempt your tastebuds, but be sure to give the delicious local fare a try too.
